Technoblade: The Man, The Pig, The Legend.
Once Upon a Block
Hi. Glad you made it here. Whether you're a longtime Technoblade fan or just discovering him for the first time, we hope you'll enjoy a little story about our Dear Leader.
Technoblade was a guy who became famous from playing games and putting them on the internet. But he became a legend for his insane talent, epic storytelling, and quotable humor. Tragedy took him from us, but a community of millions around the world still finds inspiration in his unwavering dedication, persistence, kindness, and positivity.
His real name was Alex—he kept his identity a mystery, going so far as to plant false information just to throw everyone off track. But, in the world of Minecraft and YouTube, he was Technoblade, and he was immortal.
Here is the story of how a kid with a dream and hot elbows became the most feared name in Minecraft, and why it all still matters.
From Hypixel to High Throne
Alex started uploading videos to his first channel, “Studio Lore,” in July of 2009. After exploring different games, he decided to focus on Minecraft and launch the Technoblade YouTube channel in 2013, with an ambitious goal to one day gain 10 million subscribers.
His early content was a mix of Skywars, Bedwars, Hypixel minigames, and general Minecraft chaos. He quickly became known for his witty commentary and sharp, ironic humor. Technoblade could narrate a battle like it was the most important war in history, while bouncing between references to ancient Grecian literature and internet memes.
With that mix of skill and comedy, he rose to prominence in regular Minecraft Monday tournaments, where he consistently demolished lineups of big-name creators. Then came Minecraft Championship (MCC), where he cemented himself as one of the most feared competitors. And of course, his role in the Dream SMP launched him into Minecraft history. As the anarchist warrior “Technoblade,” he brought chaos, wit, and an unforgettable presence to the storylines.
Even outside of roleplay, he lived up to the hype. His legendary “Potato War” against Im_a_Squid_Kid wasn’t just a farming grind—it was a months-long saga of strategy, wit, and one-liners that fans still quote today. Only Technoblade could make planting crops feel like an epic battle for the ages.
Some Pig
Plenty of people are good at Minecraft. Plenty of people are funny on YouTube. But Technoblade had a rare mix of qualities that made him one-of-a-kind.
He was authentic. Technoblade didn’t put on a fake YouTuber persona or force endless hype. Half the charm was that he could mumble through an explanation, go on a tangent about something random, or roast himself mid-video, and it all felt real.
He was fiercely competitive. Behind the humor was someone who really cared about winning. Whatever he did, he approached it with ruthless focus and clever strategy. Watching him wasn’t just entertainment—it was watching a strategist at work, who just happened to be cracking jokes along the way.
He was wicked smart. Whether he was calculating the most efficient way to farm potatoes or masterminding a clutch play in a high-stakes tournament, he made strategy look effortless. He was also well-read and held an impressive library in his mind. His ability to outthink, outmaneuver, and out-quip everyone else turned a block game into a stage for genius.
He was relatable. For all his skill, he never acted like he was above his fans. He constantly downplayed his victories and reminded everyone that he was just “a dude playing a block game.” That humility, mixed with his absurd talent, made him both inspiring and approachable.
He was resilient. Fans admired the way he could grind through ridiculous in-game challenges for hours or months on end. Later, when he shared his cancer battle with honesty and wit, people saw a deeper kind of strength—someone who could face hardship without losing his humor or his courage.
He built a community. His catchphrases—“Technoblade never dies,” “blood for the blood god”—weren’t just jokes. They became rallying cries that bound fans together into something bigger. Watching Technoblade wasn’t a solo experience; it felt like joining a team. Every upload was an adventure. That unpredictability kept fans hooked. He made Minecraft feel alive, because with Technoblade, anything could happen.

So Long, Nerds
In August of 2021, in a video titled, “Where I’ve Been,” Technoblade revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer. Even in the face of devastating news, he stayed true to his style: honest, witty, and brave. He continued to create content when he could, keeping the same mix of humor and humility that made fans love him in the first place.
On the last day of 2021, he hit his 10 million subscriber goal.
He turned 23 on June 1, six months later. That month, he shared his final message with the world—a video titled “So Long Nerds” that was posted posthumously by his family. In it, Technoblade thanked his fans for their support, joked about his online name, and left the world with a message full of warmth and courage. It was a farewell that was perfectly, unmistakably Techno.
Technoblade also wanted to ensure that his family could be supported after he was gone. He encouraged fans to keep buying merch from Technoblade.com and “Subscribe to Technoblade!!!” on YouTube.
The Cult of the Crown
Today, the Technoblade fanbase is one of the most loyal and passionate communities in gaming. His catchphrases, his jokes, and his larger-than-life persona live on in memes, fan art, tribute videos, and every corner of Minecraft culture.
The community also carries forward his charitable spirit. After his passing, millions of dollars were raised for cancer research in his honor. Fans continue to support causes he cared about and spread the same humor, kindness, and determination he brought into the world.
In 2025, Technoblade was honored with a cameo in the Minecraft movie, and two months later his YouTube subscriber count crossed 20 million (aka 200% of his original goal)—proof of his lasting impact and the steady flow of new fans still discovering his work.
Technoblade Never Dies
This site exists to help carry on the legacy of Technoblade, in collaboration with Mr. Technodad and the family, and in support of critical cancer research.
Technoblade wasn’t just a Minecraft player. He was a storyteller, a comedian, a competitor, and a friend to millions. He made people laugh until their sides hurt, he commanded admiration from the best of the best, and he brought us all to tears with his heart of gold.
In the end, Technoblade’s legacy is simple: he showed us that even in a world made of blocks, you can build something timeless. And for as long as people keep quoting Technoblade jokes, wearing Technoblade hoodies, and gathering for Technoblade watch parties,... well, Technoblade never really dies.
